My parents raised me to be Catholic, but I never entirely accepted that belief because even to my undisciplined mind, the whole institution appeared corrupt. Every time I went to Mass, it felt carnal, too corrupt to be an institution of a righteous God. As a child, I knew God was real and had Faith in the Bible as His word, but when I came of age, I had too many unanswered questions. The only thing I knew for sure was that I didn't want to be a Catholic, so I disputed my Catholic Confirmation and became an undisciplined seeker of truth. In 1994, I performed with my rock band in front of thousands when I had a profound spiritual experience. I felt a strong calling from God to leave behind my current way of life.
